How Old To Play Paintball
Paintball is a classic, full-on adrenaline rush sport that continues to spread in popularity globally. From sponsoring big-time tournaments to people enjoying weekend outings, paintball is a progressive way of exhilarating entertainment and competition. Whether to let off some steam or sharpen strategies; this sport is a great way for people of virtually all ages to have some serious fun. All ages? That's right; but there is a stipulation, there is a general age agreement for paintball activity and it is important to know before stabilizing your plans.
What Is The Paintball Age Limit?
In general, the paintball age limit is set at 10-years-old. However, minimum age limits can vary because each facility, remotely or indoors, has established its own policy. Don't be disheartened if you are younger than 10-years-old as there are a few locations that have lower age limits. Some arenas have started to implement grander packages that accommodate below 10-years-old allowing them to play on various types of airsoft fields (refer to below section for more information on airsoft).
Age Difference in Outdoor Paintball
In comparison to indoor paintball, a lot of outdoor facilities require players to be at least 14-years-old, if not 15, 16, or even 18. This is because outdoor arenas are generally more expansive and there is a higher potential for greater speed and activity than indoor arenas.
Airsoft For Younger Kids
Similar to paintball, airsoft is a projectile sport that requires participants to wear masks. The main difference between paintball and airsoft is that airsoft does not utilize any of the high pressured air canons, tanks, etc. Airsoft requires specific replica "guns", "rifles", etc., that hurl smaller bullets, such as plastic BB's. Generally, these "guns" are powered by battery-powered or air-powered apparatus. Therefore, the risk of injury is relatively lower and some indoor arenas have opted to start hosting airsoft tournaments for people 8-10-years or more.
Protecting The Youngest Players
Whenever it is possible, indoor facilities, regardless of whether they host paintball or airsoft, prefer to split the young players and older players. To ensure proper skill-level and the protection of younger players, facilities sometimes opt to group the youngest players separately, such as players 18 and under.
Highlighting The Gear and Set Up
In addition to the age restrictions, all participating players must also observe safety regulations and wear facemasks or regulated-specific clothing and vests. Rules and regulations will differ depending on the facility, however, you can almost guarantee all participating players will be required to use approved facemasks, protective gloves, and/or camo coveralls.
Looking Ahead
Paintball is an extremely fun and engaging sport and proper precautions must be continuously taken in order to make sure everyone is properly protected and playing at the specified age. Depending on which location you plan to visit, the age limits can range greatly, however, most locations require participants to be 10-years-old or above. Be sure to check before attending and remember, regardless which the age group, do not forget to enjoy every minute!
